Showroom Deliveries and Collections

1 Deliveries

1.1 We deliver direct to the public throughout North Devon, North East Cornwall and West Somerset. Orders from elsewhere in Cornwall will always be considered on an individual cost basis. A network of Devonshire Living stockists are able to serve customers in other parts of the UK, and in the case of Seconds and Clearance items, we may be able to provide a 3rd party direct home delivery service. We usually deliver to specific areas on certain days of the week, depending on the current workload at that time. We do not currently deliver on weekends but speak to our sales team and they will always try and accommodate where possible and reasonable.

Our new range of Relyon and Harrison Spinks products are not stored on-site and are subject to different lead times than our own goods. In some instances, it may be better suited for those suppliers to deliver to you directly, which can be discussed with our sales team at the time of ordering.

1.2 Charges

Delivery charges are calculated on a Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum system based on the service required, which will be explained to you at the time of placing your order. Deliveries further afield may be possible for a slightly increased charge.

Bronze – Free local delivery to your door. Only available to addresses in Bideford, Abbotsham, Northam, Westward Ho! and Appledore, and not applicable to discounted seconds and clearance lines.

Silver – £20. Deliver to the room of choice only, no unpacking or assembly included.

Gold - £30. Delivery to the room of choice, fully assemble every item as required.

Platinum - £40. Delivery to the room of choice, fully assemble every item as required and remove all packaging for recycling.

Delivery address, ordered items and order value all influence the charge for the service levels which we show above. Delivery, assembly and recycling all involve labour, materials and time which we have chosen to let you decide on rather than working it into the price of the furniture.

1.3 Our Delivery Team

Your order will almost always be delivered by our two-man delivery team on our own transport.  The only exception to this would be during busy sale periods when, if you opt for ‘Bronze’ service (see above), we may deem it appropriate for a one-man delivery.   (Under Covid19, we are currently restricted to one man deliveries to your door, however, we are constantly reviewing the possibility of re-establishing standard two-man deliveries in the very near future).

We use Luton style vans, similar to small removal vans.  If you believe vehicle access to your delivery address may prove problematic please discuss this with us before the scheduled delivery date.

For Platinum, Gold and Silver options, we always aim to deliver to your preferred room of choice, providing to do so does not put our delivery team at risk of personal injury or does not risk damage to your property or the goods. Please ensure there is suitable access to the room, such as wide enough staircases and doorways.

Please note that in the interest of personal safety, our delivery team are not allowed to remove their protective steel toe-capped boots whilst working, so whilst they are trained to observe maximum care, we recommend you take steps to protect your carpets and flooring if you feel this may pose a risk to your floor surface. They can not wear shoe protectors on smooth surfaces due to the slip hazard.

In the event of Relyon/Harrison Spinks arranging direct delivery from themselves, we cannot guarantee that their delivery method matches our own service.

1.4 The Process

In the majority of cases, we can accurately predict our lead times, so are able to arrange a mutually convenient date and time when you place your order, giving you the confidence that you know when it is coming.  Your order confirmation will contain this delivery date.

One week before the delivery date, we will contact you to confirm that date is still convenient for you. 

On the day before delivery, we will call you to provide you with a two-hour time slot within which we expect to arrive at your home.  For Monday deliveries or days immediately following a bank holiday, we most likely will contact you earlier than the day before, for instance on the preceding Friday. Please ensure that there will be an adult present.

On the day of delivery, our delivery team will call you if unforeseen circumstances mean they might be earlier or later than the intended time slot.  Under Covid19, the team will telephone you on arrival at your address.

In the event of Relyon/Harrison Spinks arranging direct delivery from themselves, they will contact you directly regarding your delivery.

1.5 Lead Times

Your salesperson will speak to you at the time of ordering about when a mutually convenient date and time for your delivery to take place, depending on the availability of the ordered products. This is usually within 2/3 weeks but can be quicker depending on the circumstances, or slightly longer if we are in a busy sale period.

In the case where your order contains multiple items, we will deliver your items in accordance with the longest lead-time quoted. In most cases, we won’t deliver an order until it is complete. If there is a stock issue with an item you have ordered we will inform you as soon as possible and offer you the option to wait, cancel your order or re-select a different product. In the instance of a cancellation, a full refund will be issued. We will contact you to discuss this in advance.  Please bear in mind our factory work on a just-in-time schedule so out-of-stock notifications may, very occasionally, occur shortly before the anticipated delivery date.

Relyon and Harrison Spinks products both work on a 6-8 weeks lead time. If you order a combination of Devonshire and goods from other suppliers, we would aim to deliver the complete order based on the longest lead time, unless a) you requested otherwise or b) the alternate supplier(s) would be delivering directly to you.


2. Collections

Collections can be arranged at the time of placing your order and are available within usual opening hours, which can be found hereUnder Covid19, to aid staffing and provide you with a better service, we may restrict collection opportunities to within specific times on certain days.

Many items are now available using our Express Collection Service, whereby products can be picked from our warehouse and can be ready for you to take away brand new within 1 hour. Speak to our sales team for more information.

Relyon and Harrison Spinks products work on extended lead times and so possible collection dates should be discussed with your salesperson at the time of ordering.
